Katelyn's First Homework Assignment

Katelyn had her first homework assignment in Kindergarten. She brought home a cutout of a turkey. We were supposed to disguise it so that it wouldn't be eaten on Thanksgiving. Katelyn had all kinds of ideas and we decided to make it look like a bunny. Brian was out of town so I was on my own. Katelyn and I worked together and this is the result --

I think it turned out pretty cute. I got to see the other ones that were hanging up in the hall the other day. They were all so different and many were very creative. Some of them looked like the parents did all the work! I was surprised at how many did them as Sponge Bob! That never crossed my mind. One girl in Katelyn's class did hers as Hannah Montana. I'm sure we will have many more projects to work on in the next few years.

Trick or Treat?!

Halloween night we went out trick or treating in our neighborhood. Our subdivision is a very popular place on Halloween. I think this year was worse than ever. There were people out riding in wagons and trailers, golf carts, walking, you name it. It was very crowded but still lots of fun.

Katelyn went with Jenna who lives across the street (and Jenna's dad of course). We took Macie and Nathan out on the golf cart. We went at a pretty slow pace. It took a while for us (Macie) to walk to the door. We still got plenty of candy though. We didn't make it very far and it was time to go back and meet up with Katelyn. We visited with our neighbors for a while and then we went to Ma Ma and Pa Pa's house. Even though it was getting late we went there to trick or treat. We have gone every year since Katelyn was born.

Our Trick or Treaters are ready for CANDY!
Finally a picture of all three of my cowgirls/boyKatelyn with her cousin Madison at Ma Ma's
I went to Macie and Nathan's Halloween party at preschool last Friday. The kids were really hyper. They had gone trick or treating in the building earlier that day and apparently enjoyed some candy. Macie and Nathan were happy to see me but it was really difficult to take pictures so I took this one of the pictures that hang on their cubbies. The pictures are so cute! Their teacher is so creative.Nathan is spinning around in circles after eating too many Tootsie Rolls.Nathan with Miss Heather. She was their afternoon teacher and they just LOVE her. Friday was her last day in their room. She is now teaching across the hall. She has already requested for M&N to be in her class when they move up.Macie got a little wound up at the party!

Halloween Party

Last weekend we went to the Halloween Party that our neighborhood puts on every year. Last year we went for the first time and it was a lot of fun. Of course, last year Macie and Nathan weren't walking (much).

This year our family has a Western theme for Halloween. Katelyn always wants to wear the same thing as Macie. Since Macie and Nathan are twins I wanted them to coordinate. The Cowboy theme made it easy for all of us to dress up and be pretty comfortable.

I was trying to make it easy on Brian after last year's clown costume. He still came home with a surprise. He always wanted a handlebar mustache. Well, should he try to grow his own?
My costume wasn't much of a costume. The bandanna was only $1 at Wal-Mart! Macie didn't want to keep her hat on. It did make it hard to see where she was going. Macie had so much fun at the party. She roamed around and I tried to keep up with her. She loved all the decorations even the scary ones!
Nathan took his hat off as well. He was pretty happy as long as he had candy in his mouth. He pretty much ate the entire time we were there. I thought that he would be scared of the decorations and costumes but he wasn't.
Katelyn got to meet up with our neighbor from the other house we lived in. They haven't seen each other since we moved. They are both actually 5 but Isabel is so tiny. She is 6 months younger than Katelyn. She makes Katelyn look very tall! They had so much fun together. Thank goodness for Isabel's parents. They had a little two year old to keep up with as well but Katelyn hung out with them and they even got to go on the hayride!Katelyn enjoyed playing the games, getting a tattoo and listening to Mrs. Teresa read Halloween stories.Macie and Nathan really, really enjoyed the candy. They were grabbing it off the tables and stuffing it in their mouths. They are not picky either. Nathan wanted a Baby Ruth candy bar. I told him that he wouldn't like it but he ate it up! Katelyn never liked (likes) to eat candy bars with anything crunchy in them.

We are excited about getting to dress up again this weekend for Trick or Treating! More Candy!!!

Bye Bye Sassies!

We did it! We got rid of the sassies (pacifiers) last weekend. I feel so free! I kept telling Macie and Nathan that the sassies were going bye bye. Then I put them up on Friday night except for two. We cut the ends off of those and told them they were broken. They tried to suck on them and handed them back to us. The only time that we were using them was at naptime and bedtime but they were very attached. Every morning it was a struggle to get them to give them to me. It was just a pain. Brian and I did not want our two year olds to have pacifiers so we just had to do it.
The first couple of nights were a little rough. Nathan did pretty good. He was so tired that he passed out and slept all night. Macie usually wakes up a couple of times a night wanting her sassie. She really missed it and would wake up and be so mad. She cried for a while and finally gave it up. Now we're on our 6th night without them. Macie did ask for hers tonight but she managed without it.
Hooray!

Katelyn Got Her Ears Pierced!

Katelyn got her ears pierced this weekend. She has been wanting to do this for some time. I wanted to wait until summer was over and we were going to do it for her birthday in December. However, she couldn't wait that long. Her cousin Hallie who is 10 (11 in a couple of weeks) wanted to get hers done as well. So we met at the mall.

Katelyn was extremely excited. Hallie was extremely scared. I talked Katelyn into going first. I was worried that Hallie might chicken out and then Katelyn would too. Katelyn was such a big girl. She was so brave. They were able to do both of her ears at the same time. It happened so fast. I was watching her face and she didn't even flinch! She is one tough cookie! She picked out pink gemstones. They look so pretty. I'm so proud for her. She looks even more grown-up now!

More Birthday Pics

Monday was Macie's and Nathan's actual birthday. We took cupcakes to school and that made their friends in their class very happy! Their teacher, Miss Hollie, made them these adorable birthday crowns that they proudly wore all day! They also wore their birthday shirts that Ms. Jamie made. She did such an awesome job. Everyone loved their shirts.

When we got home we had some playtime in the garage while I got something ready for supper. I would say I cooked supper but I don't really do that. I have come to really hate cooking and it is impossible to do during the week. I usually stick chicken nuggets or fishsticks in the oven and microwave macoroni and cheese!

We had a mini birthday celebration at supper. They each got a small gift and ate a cupcake. Macie got hairbows and Nathan got more cars. Macie really wanted her cupcake but I told her that she had to eat her supper first. She would eat at bite and then say, "Now mommy?". She did this several times. It was so cute.

Not that I really want my picture on this blog but I do want Macie and Nathan to have some pictures of me so Katelyn took pictures of me with the birthday twins!
Of course, Nathan would not cooperate!

M&N had their 2 year checkup this week. Macie finally passed Nathan. I knew she was going to. She weighed 29 pounds and Nathan only weighed 27 pounds and 7 ounces. Well, Macie does like to eat a lot more than Nathan. He usually could care less about food. They both were a little more than 33" tall. It was hard to get a correct measurement. Neither one of them wanted to get weighed or measured. They had a good checkup and got the flu mist instead of a shot. It was nice to not have to get a shot on this visit. We don't have to go back for a year but I have a feeling we won't make it that long!
